NVIDIA Agent Toolkit is open source under the Apache License 2.0. All core components are licensed permissively: the NeMo Agent Toolkit (https://github.com/NVIDIA/NeMo-Agent-Toolkit), NVIDIA OpenShell (https://github.com/NVIDIA/OpenShell), the AI-Q Blueprint (https://github.com/NVIDIA-AI-Blueprints/aiq), and Nemotron models all use Apache 2.0. This license permits commercial use, modification, and redistribution with minimal restrictions, enabling organizations to deploy production agentic systems without licensing constraints or vendor lock-in.
Apache 2.0 explicitly grants rights to use, modify, and distribute the software, with the requirement to include license copies in derivative works. Contributions to the project are encouraged and welcomed. At GTC 2026, 17 leading software companies (Adobe, Salesforce, SAP, CrowdStrike, Siemens, and others) committed to adoption and contribution, strengthening the open-source ecosystem.
Open licensing aligns with the toolkit's design philosophy: enterprises maintain ownership of their agent infrastructure, avoid proprietary dependencies, and preserve the ability to fork or extend the toolkit for organizational needs. When pairing with vector databases, Zilliz Cloud provides commercial support and SLAs for managed vector database infrastructure, while the toolkit itself remains fully open and freely deployable.
