Stephen Batifol - Why I Joined Zilliz
A Small Introduction About Me
My name is Stephen Batifol, and I work as a Developer Advocate at Zilliz based in Berlin, Germany. I will organize events and write content, blog posts, and tutorials to help people better understand and use Milvus.
From Android developer to Data Scientist, then Machine Learning Engineer, and now Developer Advocate, my career has been a journey of diverse experience. Still,I have always been driven by the desire to simplify the work of Data Scientists and Software Engineers.
My enjoyment of using and contributing to open-source projects such as Flyte during my previous roles drew me to Zilliz, particularly the opportunity to work with our open-source project, Milvus.
Why Zilliz?
Zilliz's contribution of Milvus to the LF AI & Data Foundation caught my attention. As an avid user and contributor to various Linux Foundation projects, I was immediately drawn by this.
During the interview process, I had the chance to meet with passionate people, which convinced me to join Zilliz. I met with Charles, the CEO of Zilliz, and I loved our discussion back then. I like his vision for the company, and I am very impressed that he's been in the database world for so long.
Joining as the first Developer Advocate in Europe is particularly exciting. I'm thrilled at the prospect of building a vibrant community from the ground up and engaging with tons of people at various events!
What’s Next?
First, I need to immerse myself technically in this domain. I have focused on ML infrastructure in recent years.
I will also start a new Meetup series in Berlin inspired by what Zilliz has been doing in the US. It will be about Unstructured Data and how you can use that data to create cool Generative AI projects. Stay tuned for the first announcement.
Finally, I am working on a couple of open-source projects, and I will release them soon.
