To begin using Sora, you first need to check whether your region and account are eligible. As of now, the Sora app is available in the U.S. and Canada. You may need an invitation or early access code, since Sora is still in a gated rollout phase. Once your account has access, you can download the Sora app (on iOS, initially) or access via relevant OpenAI interfaces.
After installing or opening the app, you typically navigate to the “Generate Video” or “Create” tab. In Sora, you input a text prompt describing the scene, motion, style, or camera movement you want. The system then begins the generation process (which may take seconds to tens of seconds, depending on complexity). According to OpenAI’s help center, Sora can generate videos up to 20 seconds in length in many cases. You may also upload reference images or video snippets (if supported) to guide the system. The UI often offers options like “remix,” “crop,” or “blend” to adjust or combine results.
Finally, as you become more familiar, you can refine prompts, pick among multiple generated variants, download results if your subscription plan allows it, and share or remix content. Be sure to read the Help / FAQ section (e.g. OpenAI’s “Generating videos on Sora”) to understand constraints, watermarking, and usage terms. Over time, OpenAI may expand access beyond the U.S./Canada and add support for additional platforms and subscription tiers.
